            AS OF 2/8/2013  
RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE OUR LADY OF LOURDES BOY INT I BOYS BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT  
                 
I.  RULES PERTAINING TO TOURNAMENT SET UP AND DESIGN.      
                 
  A.  THE TOURNAMENT WILL CONSIST OF NO MORE THAN 8 TEAMS.      
                 
  B.  THERE WILL BE TWO DIVISIONS        
                 
    1.  THE A DIVISION          
                 
    2.  THE B DIVISION          
                 
  C.  THERE WILL BE 4 TEAMS IN EACH DIVISION.        
                 
  D.  THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR WILL DETERMINE WHAT DIVISION EACH TEAM FITS INTO.  
                 
  E.  EACH TEAM WILL PLAY THE OTHER TEAM IN THEIR DIVISION ONCE TO CREATE A TOTAL  
       OF 3 POOLS GAMES EACH.          
                 
  F.  AFTER POOL PLAY, THE NUMBER 1 AND 2 SEED IN EACH DIVISION WILL BE DETERMINED  
       BY THE TEAMS WITH…          
                 
    1.  THE BEST WON LOST RECORD        
                 
      a.)  IF TIED, THE TEAM WHO ALLOWED THE LEAST AMOUNT OF POINTS.  
                 
        1.)  IF TIED, THE TEAM WITH THE GREATER AMOUNT  
             OF POINTS SCORED.      
                 
    2.  FOR EXAMPLE, AFTER THE POOL GAMES ARE PLAYED, THE FINAL STANDINGS  
         MAY LOOK LIKE THIS        
            POINTS POINTS   
      TEAM WINS LOSES ALLOWED SCORED  
    1 B1 2 1 36 57  
    2 B2 2 1 38 49  
    3 B3 2 1 38 42  
    4 B4 0 3 68 37  
                 
    IN THE EXAMPLE ABOVE, TEAMS B1, B2, AND B3 ENDED THE TOURNAMENT  
    WITH THE SAME WIN LOSS RECORD.  THIS CAN HAPPEN.  TEAM B1 IS    
    PROCLAIMED TO BE THE 1ST SEED BECAUSE, WHILE IT HAS THE SAME    
    RECORD OF OTHER TEAMS, IT ALLOWED LESS POINTS THAN THE TWO    
    OTHER TEAMS WITH A LIKE RECORD.        
                 
    IN A RARE CASE A TEAM COULD HAVE THE SAME WON/LOSS RECORD    
    AND HAVE ALLOWED THE SAME AMOUNT OF POINTS.  IN THIS CASE    
    WE GO TO THE THIRD TIE BREAKER WHICH IS POINTS SCORED.    
                 
    IN A REALLY RARE CASE THAT THERE IS STILL A TIE THE ISSUE     
    WILL BE SETTLED BY A FLIP OF THE COIN.      
                 
  G.  THESE 2 TEAMS WILL COMPETE IN A ONE GAME, DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP.    
                 
  H.  ALL GAMES WILL CONSIST OF FOUR 6 MINUTE QUARTERS.  SAME AS THIS YEARS LEAGUE PLAY.
                 
  I.  IN THE EVENT OF A TIE AT THE END OF REGULATION, A 2 MINUTE OVERTIME WILL BE ADDED.  
                 
    1.  30  SECOND TIMEOUT ADDED TO EACH TEAMS.      
    2.  FOULS WILL NOT RESET FOR OT.        
                 
II.  THIS TOURNAMENT DOES NOT HAVE A MUST PLAY RULE.      
                 
  A.  COACHES MAY COACH THEIR TEAM BY UTILIZING THEIR ROSTER IN THE WAY THEY   
       BELIEVE THEY NEED TO IN ORDER TO WIN.        
                 
III.  REGARDING ROSTERS            
                 
  A.  THE ROSTERS OF ALL TEAMS IN THIS TOURNAMENT MUST BE THE EXACT ROSTERS  
       FILED WITH THE LEAGUE FOR INTERMEDIATE I TEAMS IN THE 2012/2013 HARRISBURG  
       CYO LEAGUE.            
                 
  B.  ALL TEAMS IN THE TOURNAMENT WILL BE FROM THE CYO HARRISBURG INTERMEDIATE  
       I  LEAGUE.            
                 
  C.  ALL PLAYERS MUST CHECK IN WITH THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR AND VERIFY    
       THEIR SPOT ON THE ROSTER.          
                 
    1.  THIS CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED BY EMAILING WDR@FOOTBALLVIDEOS.COM  
         OR BY CHECKING IN, IN PERSON, AT THE TOURNAMENT.    
                 
IV.  TOURNAMENT ADMINISTRATION          
                 
  A.  IT WILL COST $200 FOR A TEAM TO ENTER THE TOURNAMENT      
                 
    1.  WE CAN ACCEPT CASH OR CHECK MADE PAYABLE TO OUR LADY OF  LOURDES  
                 
    2.  IF THE TOURNAMENT IS CANCELLED FOR ANY REASON, MOST LIKELY WEATHER,  
         THE TOURNAMENT FEES WILL BE REFUNDED.      
                 
    3.  IF ONLY SOME GAMES ARE PLAYED, EACH TEAM WILL BE REFUNDED LESS A  
         COST OF $67 PER FULL GAME PLAYED.      
                 
  B.  CHECKS CAN BE MAILED TO THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR

         580-7620.  FEEL FREE TO CONTACT HIM AT ANY TIME ABOUT TOURNAMENT MATTERS.  
                 
  C.  THE TOURNAMENT WILL HAVE AN EMAIL NEWSLETTER IN ORDER TO KEEP PARTICIPANTS  
       UPDATED.            
                 
V.  PLAYING RULES WILL MIMIC REGULAR SEASON RULES UNLESS SPECIFICALLY AMMENDED.  
                 
  A.  ALL COACHES MUST POSESS AND DISPLAY APPROPRIATE CLEARANCE BADGES AS IN REGULAR SEASON.
                 
  B.  A TEAM PRAYER WILL BE SAID BEFORE EVERY GAME.      
                 
VI.  SCOREKEEPERS      
                 
  A.  EACH TEAM MUST HAVE AN OFFICIAL SCOREKEEPER KEEPING SCORE FOR THE TEAM. SCOREKEEPERS FROM BOTH TEASMS, MUST VERIFY THE EXACT SCORE OF EACH GAME AND WRITE IT IN THE BOOK.      
                 
   

 

 

   

VII.  WE WILL BE FOLLOWING THE PRESS RULE BELOW.

PRESS RULE – VARSITY AND INTERMEDIATE 1

 

Any team leading by 20 points at any point in the game may not full court or half court press. If score drops below 20 points, then the leading team may press again until the lead is up to 20 points. A team losing by more than 25 points in the fourth quarter may not press.

 

Any team leading by 25 points or more at the start of the fourth quarter must make sure that all reserve players have an opportunity to play most of the fourth quarter.
